SEN Parent Support Group

At our school, we value working in close partnership with families. To strengthen this, we run a Parent Support Group led by our Family Support Worker, Heena.

The group meets virtually once a month, offering parents and carers a safe and supportive space to share experiences, raise concerns, and discuss the challenges they face. This gives parents a real voice in shaping the support their child receives. Heena listens carefully to families’ needs and involves the SEN leads when necessary to address school-based concerns.

We also invite external professionals, such as housing advisors, financial support officers, and specialist therapists, to join the meetings, providing guidance and connecting families with wider community resources.

For example topics have included:

  • Establishing good sleep routines

  • Support with medication

  • Strategies for Occupational Therapy at home

  • Speech and Language Therapy (SALT) guidance for home use

By listening to parents and carers, we can ensure every child receives the best possible support both in school and at home, while also helping families access the wider services and resources they may need.
